Our Mission
Inclusivity in Gaming
The Sims 4 is one of the most popular Life Simulator games on the market. Developed by Maxis and published by Electronic Arts. Releasing their first game The Sims on February 4th 2000. Selling more than 6 Million copies in the first 2 years. They have since released 5 main titles, 3 spin-ffs, and 4+ mobile/web games. They have amassed a huge following. Selling almost 200 Million copies worldwide.
The sims game is all about making your gaming experience unique to you. Its your virtual world where you make all the decisions. You can create a sim that becomes an astronaut, or a famous chef. You can dress your sims in many different styles without having gender constraints. The Sims franchise prides themselves on making their game inclusive and full of diversity. They have really come a long way and broke alot of barriers when it comes to inclusivity. The development team has released updates allowing players to create sims with hearing aides, as well as transexual sims. They have also released more content for POC such as skin tones and ethnic attire.
Although they have made major strides to encourage more diversity in gaming, there are still some things the game is lacking. So we, the players, look to other players that have learned to create content such as mods and custom content to enrich our gameplay. There is no shortage in custom content for gamers who wants more euro-centric features and gameplay in their game. However, when it comes to people of color, the content is a bit scarce. It is so scarce that those looking for custom content such as afro-textured hairstyles or Asian-style clothing and features have to go on a hunt for different websites to find content for them. Where as sites such as The Sims Resource has copious ammounts of euro-centric content. There is absolutely nothing wrong with creators making content like this. Creators can and should make whatever they want.
There is just a demand for a site that hosts content for players looking for more diverse pieces. Or even a site that lists creators that develop more inclusive content. Thats where Simly Diverse comes in! Our goal is to showcase custom content creators that are designing items that everyone can enjoy.

- Life is strange 2

Life is Strange 2 is another great game with Hispanic-American leading characters. "The game's plot features Hispanic American brothers Sean and Daniel as they travel along the US West Coast as fugitives from the police after the younger brother discovers his telekinetic abilities. In the game, which is played from a third-person perspective, Sean must make crucial decisions that will lead to different branches in the storyline, while serving as a surrogate parent for Daniel." -wikipedia
- Spider-Man: Miles Morales
-
Spider-Man: Miles Morales is another great example of a game company representing Minorities. With the main character, Miles Morales, being afro-latino and a side character who is african american and also Deaf. They are really making a difference in the gaming community. They also took the advice from the community about Miles's hairstyle and changed it because we are tired of black characterrs having the same hairstyles in video games.
The game developers-Insomniac Games- created a character named Hailey Cooper who is a deaf, African American girl who can be seen showcaing her skills with a paint can throughout the city. You can even play as Hailey and experience the world from her perspective. Implementing this gameplay really shows that Insomniac Games supports and respects the deaf community. Check out some gameplay footage on Tiktok.
